Your Top music search engine

Posted on February 18th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Think about it for awhile: which search engine happens to be your #1 music search engine? Is it SeeqPod? Well, why is that music search engine your favorite? Is it because it relies on torrents file sharing so that you get access to hordes of music files from different servers without having to worry about a silly little thing like copyright? Well, sorry kiddies, but that search engine is now in hot water because it does work like that.

SeeqPod (based in Emeryville, California) has been slapped with a copyright infringement lawsuit by one of the Big Four music labels, namely Warner Music. Warner Music alleges in its case against Seeqpod that SeeqPod targets its search efforts at music products that definitely have copyright ownership but which have been illegally placed on sites without authorization from the owner. Warner Music further says that SeeqPod will agree to look for the links to such sites for the user, then play the copyrighted music even if authorization has not been given by the real owners. Furthermore, SeeqPod will then integrate the illegally acquired music file into the playlist collection of the user, and even inform the user where he can go Read the rest of this entry »

Best Ways to Attract More Music Fans Faster

Posted on February 8th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Attracting more fans. Admit it, that’s what music marketing is all about — getting more people to come to your shows and buy your CDs. And hopefully, getting a lot more people to do those things.

Why else do you work so hard to travel and play as many places as you can? For what other reason do you meticulously write and record songs? I don’t believe the reason is so you can practice and keep up your chops in obscurity. It’s not because you want to impress influential managers or A&R people. You work hard because you know you have something of value to offer … and you want to reach as many people as possible with your music.

Marketing is the thing that helps you reach that goal. But marketing is also a subject that confuses a lot of musicians. Songwriters and band members the world over know they need to promote themselves. But many don’t know where to start, much less know how to continue effectively.

Does this describe you? Do you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels, not sure exactly what you should be doing next to market yourself? Read the rest of this entry »

Top 10 Music Hits This Summer

Posted on February 4th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

When it comes to pop music, we can say that things are quite predictable: a catchy beat, some lyrics about a heartbreak or about a party and, of course, a video with some sexy girls dancing as naked as possible on the beach – especially since we are talking about summer hits. Yes, that seems to be the recipe of success. But fortunately enough, it seems that this year, there might be some “intruders” on the music scene, meaning debutants with different beats, different lyrics and, luckily, different videos.

Who are these new faces in the music scene? Well, most of them seem to come from the rainy Britain. We all heard (the probably evergreen) Grace Kelly song from new artist Mika. We all heard Lily Allen’s Smile and Rehab from Amy Winehouse.

Well, all these artists seem to promise the top music hits for this summer, so you can count on Mika’s Love Today, on Lily’s Alfie and on Amy’s Back to Black to make it to the top of the charts. Somehow, these artists approach the classiest pop and jazz, which might be surprising, considering today’s R&B must-have trends, but they seem to gain Read the rest of this entry »

The Man In Black And His Music

Posted on February 2nd, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

There is little out there that has moved as many people as the music of Steve Conway. From punks to preachers, from country music fans to hipsters, everyone loves Steve Conway music. He is one of those Great American songwriters whose work unites people from all walks of life. When I wear my Steve Conway T-shirt, I get compliments from almost everyone I meet. He is a true musical genius, and musical geniuses find fans everywhere.

It took me a long time to realize how great Steve Conway music was. You see, the first person I ever knew who listened to Steve Conway was my dad. Kids can appreciate their parents’ taste in books, their parents’ taste in people, and their parents’ taste in food. What no adolescent can appreciate, however, is their parents’ taste in music. If my dad liked Steve Conway music, it was obvious that Steve Conway music was square.

That all changed when I met my first girlfriend. She was a bit of a country girl, to tell you the truth. She liked all the old country stars, including Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Read the rest of this entry »
