Playing at the Casino with No Money

Posted on April 30th, 2011 by admin  |  No Comments »

My best friend is considered a hustler in gambling. He is not addicted to it. He knew many table or card games in the Casino. He studied them not to earn from gambling. He is a wise bettor. He would always be in control of the situation. He told me once that he entered the casino with only one hundred dollars. After an hour, he left the Casino with two thousand dollars. If you enter a casino with only one hundred dollars in your wallet, it is like having no money at all. What will keep you stay in the casino if you will gamble is that you have enough money. You cannot afford to lose with no back up money. My best friend is an intelligent bettor. He usually brings two hundred dollars when he goes to the casino. He would be leaving his one hundred dollars so that he will still have money when he goes home. When online casino started to have its own set of players and market, my friend started also playing it. Since he is wise bettor, he would end up winning. For him, losing one hundred dollars is enough. He is just a lucky guy who would always win. He shared to me that there was a week that he lost five hundred dollars. He stopped playing for two weeks. When he played again, he won again. He said that we must be in control of ourselves most especially in gambling. We cannot afford to allow gambling to control us.

Unforgettable country music videos

Posted on August 5th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Idealistically country music television has become so popular because we can relate to most of the story lines they project. Country music is portrayed through feelings and the proverbial “Some one done some one wrong song”.

Earlier stars such as Hank Williams SR. and Patsy Cline painted many mental pictures in our minds. Now with Music videos giving the music a visual time line to the music, has made it much better with relating it to reality.

Faith Hill’s music video “Breath” is my all time favorite. She shows so much femininity in this video with her words and sexuality. Though her words would have been enough, the visualization of her laying under those satin sheets really appeal to most of her male and female viewers.

Hank Willams Jr’s remake of the video, “Tear in my beer” with his legendary father showed the technological advances that have been made in the last thirty years of the entertainment business. The video gave us the opportunity to share these two great country singers love of one another through their music.

Toby Kieth has taken country music videos to a lighter and more fun side through his music. Hits like “I should have been a cowboy”, Read the rest of this entry »

Punk music: Past, present and future

Posted on July 25th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

1-2-3-4! This is the story about how Punk started in the late 1960′s MC5, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, and The Velvet Underground were on the forefront. The scene was growing but stood underground for the next 9 years in Detroit, New York City and London. By 74′ The Ramones formed and started playing three chorded, hi-hatted, bass line anthems cause they couldn’t read tabs and barely started playing their instruments. Leather jackets, ripped jeans and Sperry Top-Siders were their uniform. They recorded their first Lp in 1976 titled “The Ramones” down at a New York City studio managed by their manager it spawned the single “Blitzkrieg Bop”. The Ramones first British show was in 1976 and after the show they met The Clash who later that day played their first show. The London scene started growing with such acts as Sex Pistols, The Damned, X-Ray Spex, and Slaughter And The Dogs. At the turn of the century Sex Pistols mainstream success would lead to their break up in 1978.

The 80′s would later produce such acts as Bad Religion, Abrasive Wheels, Gang Green, 7 Seconds, and Toy Dolls. The influences of The Ramones, Iggy Pop And The Stooges, Johnny Thunders Read the rest of this entry »

Classic country music: An introduction

Posted on July 17th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Theres nothing like the scream of the fiddle and the classic country twang coming through your radio. Songs like “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” started a new revolution to country music. Country is so versatile, you can go from slow ballads talking about love, to rockin’ country that blast through the speaks and makes you get on the dance floor. Classic country music is where it all began.

Classic country, is a solid foundation for any country music you hear today. When youre at a country dance club, songs like Joe Diffie’s “John Deere Green” and The Bellamy Brothers “Redneck Girl” start a standard that is very hard to follow. These songs get your boots kickin’ on the dance floor, and set a beat that is like no other.

Chris Ledoux has a unique country sound, that is still often plaid today, whether your muddin’ in your truck or at a rodeo. Songs such as “Cadillac Ranch” and “Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy” are often still favorites of any classic country lover. Songs such as “Hooked on an 8 Second Ride” are still huge rodeo favorites today.

Classic country also set the trend for some awesome cowboy style movies. Movies Read the rest of this entry »

The worldwide roots of country music

Posted on July 13th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

There is a preconceived notion that country music is owned, produced, packaged, and sold exclusively in Nashville, USA, but current conditions reveal otherwise. Country music is not just an American product, it runs rampant in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, Russia, South America, and Central Europe where country-based Swiss Alpine yodeling has flourished for centuries long before America was even discovered. All you have to do to find proof of inter-continental country artists is to go on myspace and check out where some of country music’s indie artists come from and call home.

Russia’s Bering Strait is a prime example of country music found in the heart of musicians born and raised far from Nashville, USA. Lead singer/acoustic guitarist Natasha Barzilova has a lovely resonance in her vocals that can fill the glens of the largest mountain ranges. The band’s multi-talented Sasha Ostrovsky handles the lap steel guitar, pedal steel guitar and dobra with the proficiency of any recipient of America’s Country Music Award in these instruments. Proof that country music is not just American made but is just as globally influenced as rock.

Australia’s singer/guitarist Slim Dusty was making country music from the 1940′s Read the rest of this entry »

The ins and outs of the Sheffield music scene

Sheffield Music: 5323’09′N 128’10″W

Though formed in 1973, it was not until punk rock had open the doors for musical experimentation that Sheffield’s Cabaret Voltaire were given a platform for their work in found sound and confrontational musique concrte. Cabaret Voltaire were signed to Rough Trade in 1978 and began releasing singles, the same year that contemporaries of Cabaret Voltaire would form under the name Clock DVA. Adi Newton, of Clock DVA and a musician who worked with Cabaret Voltaire, has previously been in a band called The Future with Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware, who would start the Human League. With the addition of Philip Oakey, the Human League would release the experimental single ‘Being Boiled’.

After two albums, the founding members of the Human League were removed and the remaining members went into a pop oriented direction, leading to the release of 1981′s ‘Dare’ and the synth pop defining hit single ‘Don’t You Want Me’. The team of Marsh and Ware formed their own synth pop group, Heaven 17, who charted with ‘Temptation’ and ‘Let Me Go’ from ‘The Luxury Gap’. In 1981, fellow Sheffield band ABC scored a hit with ‘Tears Are Not Read the rest of this entry »

Finding legal and free music downloads

Posted on June 16th, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

Looking for free and legal music download? The good news is that other people have already done much of the work for you-bloggers. There are countless music/mp3 blogs out there devoted to a range of genres of music, many of which offer free downloads (or links to free downloads) of the artists they write about.

One blog I read frequently is largeheartedboy (blog.largeheartedboy.com), a “music blog featuring daily free and legal music downloads as well as news from the worlds of music, literature, and pop culture,” as its author describes it. Every day he posts links to download live shows as well as tracks from new albums.

You, however, will probably want to find free and legal downloads of music that you, not I, like. One way to do this would be to use the Hype Machine (http://hype.non-standard.net/ ), a website that serves as an mp3 blog aggregator; that is, it tracks the songs and music discussed on some of the top music blogs and lets you explore and search them in convenient ways. Try searching for a favorite artist of yours and see what comes up. Or use it to listen to some of Read the rest of this entry »

A guide to buying 80s music

Posted on June 3rd, 2010 by admin  |  No Comments »

The 1980s was perhaps the most eclectic and new decade for music since the 1960s; historically speaking, it is a crossroads where classic rock dead ends, alternative music hit its stride, and the computer age really factored in. Because of these factors, when buying ’80s music, it is important to think about what one likes about other types of music from different decades and walks of life. The 2000s is a great decade to start from, because it really brings together several styles of music, many of which are rooted in the ’80s scene.

When trying to decide what next ’80s group to commit your almighty dollar to, really try and focus on what you like about other music and try to apply that to ’80s bands that you are courting. Here are a few examples of qualities that several bands may share:

- Are you a fan of the sugary-yet-sexually-driven pop that dominated the late 1990′s with singers such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera? Then perhaps you should go for the sugar-coated master of the craft with Madonna’s first few albums (that’s right, kids-she existed before “Ray of Light.”) If even this is too cerebral for you, one could perhaps Read the rest of this entry »
